Subject:Re: Controllers???
The Doepfer has 2 sliders, which I use as a last resort for volume control (in those rare cases, piano volume only). They're not the most conveniently placed for lots of tweaking (just inside the control panel, very close to the wall, so to speak). So I haven't fully explored what they do because I wouldn't use them unless forced to. I wired up a pair of cheapo MAudio sustain pedals (the ones for $10 at the G(trctr)Spot to a stereo jack, and I use the left one for leslie fast/slow, and the right one for sustain obviously.
I haven't even introduced the drawbar controller into the equation; I had enough on my hands with all the other gear. Monday I'll start programming my Hello Dave stuff in there, so I'll really be checking out the controller then. I have to take my son and his buddies to some haunted house tonite, got a Pink Freud show Saturday, and then going to a White Sox game on Sunday. (Can buy a b3 and a leslie for what THATs gonna cost....)

I guess my personal interest in this thread is a good master keyboard for eventually controlling a Muse Receptor. So far Tony is the guy who has the experience there. I would suppose a controller with memory would be the best one for this application as when programming setups (?) in the Receptor each setup would have to be called up in different memory slots on the controller either in zones on the controller or layering sounds and using sliders or a pedal assignment for volume, filters, etc. For me personally I try to keep things fairly simple as Bruce stated. Piano here with strings to fade in, B4 in this program with sliders acting as drawbars, a split with rhodes and a lead sound on top, etc. So the CME with no memory (?) would probably not be the best choice for this application. Yes? Once I go demo all this stuff at my friendly Petosa Music I'm sure all these questions will be answered but I wanted some thoughts on this. With my old Yammie KX88 I used an MX8 midi mapper to
run modules and had it all set up. It worked great but I have no interest in going that route again. BTW I still have that MX8 if anyone wants it for cheep. I never really had a handle on the KX88 as a stand alone controller. Yamaha and I never really saw eye to eye! I hate their manuals. I also understand on at least the M-Audio controller that the sliders reverse for use as drawbars. Tony I know you bought the B4 drawbar unit. Does the Doepfer have the sliders that reverse to use this way? Do you have a control for Leslie speed set up yet? So many questions!!
