Subject:M-audio & CME

Just a word of caution.. I always try to find two sources for reviews
on gear I am interested in. Actually the reviews from an online store
site can give you almost as good as Harmony Central - if the item has
been reviewed so they're available.

Both selections of these keyboards that might be picked in the
controller search here have enough bad reviews and quality control
issues, I'd be careful. The CME is so new, there's not that much
info, but the Chinese manual is apparently unreadable and users have
to rely on an online group, supposed to be good, for tips how to
program it. The M-audio has quite a few reviews - it's either "hated
it" or "love it" then some peculiarities of the board that might
prove to be a deal-breaker for a prospective buyer. So much of this
newer gear that's not time-tested quality like Yamaha and Roland
uses "random" quality control checks: Pull one off the assembly line
and check it while the line rolls by with no checks. If the one being
inspected looks good, production keeps rolling on and several bad
ones can skip by. So the word is "Caveat emptor" = Let the buyer
beware. My 2¢ <-don't 'ya just love IBM character sets? heh heh
