Subject:Re: Roland A-33 / A-37 question
I used to own the A-33, and I've played the A-37 in stores. The action
on both is about the same, and I happen to think its great for organ.
As someone else noted, keys are lipped, that's the primary drawback.
But the action is very light and the black keys are a good size. I
guess I don't know what "semi-weighted" means any more. Maybe Roland
is trying to tell you its less springy than some other controllers, and
that's true, but you won't feel like your fingers are moving actual
weights either. Anyway, its very good organ-like action from a generic
controller even if not in a league with the CX's, XK's, etc.
My A-33 has some bugginess that I never could quite solve so I just
worked around it. I've always liked keyboards that retains a sense of
mystery. Oh wait, no, that's women, not keyboards. Keyboards should
be transparent. I also liked that it was battery operated -- one less
thing to plug in.
