I won't repeat Tony's answers, but I can answer a few questions in
areas he has not explored yet, since I've had one more or less since
they came out.

If you upgrade your hard drive, all the fully supported plugs will be
there on the new drive, and your ilok will allow them to run.
"Fully supported" is by now sort of a misnomer, because the ability
to load other VST's ahs greatly increased. THey used to call
these "unsupported", but now refer to them as user installable.

As far as loading outside VST's - there are 2 ways, depending on the
copy protection method. Most freebie VST's can simply be copied to a
specific folder on the Receptor's harddrive, and then can
be "installed" via the gui, or the front panel. I put "installed" in
quotes because the installation process basically consists of
Receptor determining if it's cool with what you gave it or not. You
will either get an "installed" or "failed" message. MOST free VST's
will simply just work. Commercial VST's that use Serial number
protection will often ask for the serial number when you first
instantiate the plugin, and this can be typed in.

Other VST's with more elaborate copy protection shcemes such as
challenge/response, require a special installer that you download
from plugorama.com. Several of the NI offerings, like Elektric piano
(but NOT B4) fall into this category as do the offerings from
Spectrasonics and others. Generally as new plugs are "supported", the
special installers will show up, even if they are now included on
Receptor. So if you already HAVE one, and then they start including a
new instrument, you do not have to get a new hard drive each time!!

Hope this helps,
Phil
