Subject:Mac Muse

Hi,

built my personal "Mac muse" today. Took my surfin' machine Apple Mac
mini and installed Steinberg's v-stack. This program is a simple
vst-host - just to host and play some vst-instruments and vst-effects
and to mix them.

To check, whether the Mac mini has enough power to work in realtime, I
installed an arbitrary free vsti-plugin (4front piano) and plugged an
usb-midi-interface and a controller-keyboard to the mini and amplified
the headphone-out.

Playing this cheapo piano I felt no latency and had no drop-outs. I
hope, high quality plugins like B4 or minimonsta behave the same (the
specs say yes).

Assuming this is the case, I am thinking of remote-controlling the minis
Desktop with my tiny linux-laptop over WLAN (VNC should be possible) and
place it near my midi-keyboard. I'll check this out ...
