Subject:Winwood live - cross pedaling?

Caught Steve Winwood at the Orpheum in Boston last night. Great show.

His bass kicking/playing was quite impressive. I have not observed a lot of
pedal players live, but I've never seen anyone play cross legged before.

That is, his right was crossed over his left leg so his right foot
controlled the volume pedal (on the left side) and his left foot was
kicking the pedals.

Looks a bit uncomfortable, but as someone who has tried (and failed) to
kick pedals, there's a certain logic to using one's left side for the bass
part, so I'm guessing he's using his left hand alternating with his left
foot.

Any thoughts on this subject?
