Subject:Re: OT Muse Receptor & VST's?
Well, new stuff gets added all the time. I've
downloaded some new programs that look interesting
from KVR (that's the freeware and "unproven" division
of Plugorama), which I need to load into my iLok, but
I've had my hands full trying to program my Pink Freud
show, so I haven't had time to do it.
The Muse comes with a ton of stuff preinstalled for
you to use. A lot of it is free, and for good reason:
they aint all that happening. But the premium stuff
in there is very good and will entice you to buy them
permanently when their month-long demo is over. As
new premium programs become Receptor-friendly, the
same deal applies: you can buy them from Plugorama, or
buy them from another vendor and purchase the
Crossgrade for your Receptor/iLok. You just purchase
the crossgrade (after you've bought the software), and
load your iLok into the computer, hit synchronize,
then remove the iLok from your computer and insert it
into your Receptor. When you go to the Plugins on the
Receptor, it'll be amongst the list of programs
already in there. It's like....magic or something!
Now the freeware or "untested" stuff is a different
story. The freeware on Plugorama you just put in your
"cart", and when you go to iLok.com, it'll be there
waiting for you, and all you need to do is
"synchronize". But the stuff in KVR (that's more
freeware and untested premium stuff)has to be
downloaded into your computer, and then downloaded
from your computer into the Muse by dropping it into
the "unsupported plug-ins" folder in the Receptor
(which you'll do with your computer attached).
I haven't done this yet, but I'm going to add
Atmosphere (a premium software) and Superwave P8 (a
freeware) synth. I just won't be doing it in the next
week!
I thought I was going to put my Wavestation and JD990
in this rack, but there is really no need. My
MotifESrack and the Muse is all I need. Right now,
running B4, Pro53, MiniMonsta, Oddity, MTron and CS80v
simultaneously seems to be no chore (but I did upgrade
the Receptor at the factory). I suspect if I were to
put Ivory in there, there might be some taxing, but
maybe not. When they put a demo out there, I'll try
it and see.
I'm pretty psyched about the new rig!!!!!!
