Subject:RE: CX-3 version upgrade danger???

Hi Lou and Bruce,

...And then there's good old Ham-Suz who hatchet XB-2 owners for $150 US
to cover the cost of swapping their old version 1 OS chips for version
2... That was a painful but necessary expenditure for me since I
required a MIDI implementation that actually included SysEx to use the
beastie. In this case Ham-Suz underwrote the firmware development costs,
didn't have to implement a MIDI field upgrade procedure AND avoided the
failed-upgrade-toasts-motherboard scenario.

This approach certainly wouldn't fly in today's world of free MIDI OS
upgrades every 6 months! Oh well... At least I also got a new manual and
a nifty metal 'XB-2 Version 2' self-adhesive logo plate for my money...
(-;

Cheers,

Tony
