Subject:Re: Any B4 II owners yet?
No, this is very helpful. I haven't delved into the CCs issue becuase my controller handles individual channel volumes. Because my old Wavestation is very particular about wanting things on Midi Channel 1, I reserved 1 for the Wavestation, and channel 2 for my JD990. I use midi channel 8 as my overall control channel for Receptor (sending the program change to Receptor on 8, and saving each individual software program's patch inside that program), so that I only have to send one program message to the Receptor; when it sees program 23 for example, it knows to pull up a certain b4 sound, a certain Pro-53 sound, etc. I then do volume, modulation, filter sweeps, etc. via the Doepfer's programmer. Typically the only ccs I use are the standards, with a few assignable ones for cut-off and resonance, etc.
I'll have to delve into this further.

I'm not sure how much you've delved into Receptor's use of CC#'s yet, so forgive me if I
cover ground you already know - but it may be of interest to someone else anyway. I do
use B4 as part of a multi.
Receptor has some CC#'s specifically designated to control things like channel volume,
panning, etc. As a result, if a plugin, like B4, is written to expect particular CC#'s to
control specific parameters, you may be out of luck. Additionally, the Voce V5, which I use
as a controller, is hardwired to send certain CC#'s for it's drawbars and buttons. These do
not correspond to what I need B4 in Receptor to see.
When you are in edit mode for a plugin in Receptor, and switch to the gui-less screen,
you are able to assign parameters to certain prioritized "slots". For an instrument, the 1st
16 are each assigned a specific CC#, depending on what mixer channel the instrument is
on.
So.....on my main multi......B4 is on mixer channel 2,which I have assigned to midi
channel 2, and the drawbar levels, percussion on/off, overdrive et al, have ben assigned
CC#'s. These are not what the V5 sends however. This is where the Event Processor Plus
comes in. I have this set to map the V5 functions, on midi channel 2 only, to the
appropriate CC#'s, and voila, the V5 is now a handy dandy B4 controller. The Event
Processor Plus is a beautiful thing, and inexpensive.
(See www. ashbysolutions.com) It also allows me to do other nifty things, like toggle the
mod wheel of my P250 to control different effects parameters on Scarbee's VXFX by hitting
the lowest notes of the piano while on a particular midi channel.
I have not loaded version 1.4 of the the Receptor software yet. One of the
improvements of 1.4 is that you can set a multi to relinquish control of incoming CC#'s
and pass them direcctly to the plugs. This should enable you to use the B4D directly,
without doing any of the above, but you lose midi control of the Receptor mixer. Future
versions should allow some degree of both, but for now it is all or nothing.
Hope this all makes sense. It is not yet 6:00AM. My 2 year old is "sleeping in", which
for him means he was not up at 5:00 loaded for bear. This gives me a good solid 15
minutes of coffee drinkin' message board surfin' solitude....
