Subject:Hammond vs. Korg vs. Roland vs. ...
Hello everybody,
Well, this is my first post. I am looking to get a Hammond clone and I WAS going to ask which clone is most recommended and why. But from my experience in other email groups, it is not always a good thing to do. So, I won't. I hate it when the new kid on the block starts a war :-) I have been reading posts here and you folks have some good advice and definite opinions. Let's just say based on posts I have read here, the clone I was thinking about getting, I am now thinking might not be right for me.
I really am not an organ player. In fact I really am not a "real" keyboard player in that I have not taken formal lessons and have not been trained in the classical style of piano. Since the age of 14 or so (I am now 52), I have played by ear just hammering chords out until they sounded right. I would like to be able to say I have been playing SINCE the age of 14, but there have been many years in between when my fingers never touched a key. Anyway, they clone I get will not be used professionally. It will likely be used when playing with our music team at church, and of course just for fun.
So if anyone would like to give me advice, I am all ears. You sound like a good group with lots of helpful info all the way from equipment likes and dislikes to drawbar settings. Thanks in advance.
Lou
