Subject:Re: Hammond XK-3 w/MIDI bass pedals - configuration question

If you have MIDI In (pg. 86 #1) set at Lower/Pedal, whatever is
connected to MIDI in 1 will be the pedals. The channel doesn't
matter. Likewise with MIDI in 2. Whatever is connected to it will be
the lower manual. Again, channel doesn't matter. The benefit is that
it makes the setup plug and play. This mode does disable the split
and manual bass functions however.

If you set MIDI In to In 1/In 2, The XK-3's split and manual bass
features will continue to work. If you connect a pedal board to one
of the MIDI ins and a keyboard to the other and set the MIDI channels
(pg 86 #'s 10, 11 & 12) to respond to the channels each of the
attached controllers is sending on, (and they have to be different)
you will have an "organ" that can also have a split upper/lower
manual and manual bass. In addition, you can select the split point
on the keyboard and transpose the lower manual up an octave (pg. 84,
#'s 4 & 5). Bass tones stay where they are.

Good Luck
