Subject:One-note thumper?

I currently tap a single bass pedal when I play the Hammond. I'd like
to do the same on the XK-3 without lugging around a midi pedal board.
I don't find the XK-3 couple-bass-to-lower-manual hack to be
satisfactory. Has anyone solved this requirement with a footswitch and
a midi note-on/note-off generator?
