Subject:Re: XK# bass pedal output
What will you be playing the XK-3 through? The Leslie 2101/21System
sends everything below 125Hz out the Stationary/Rotary Bass outputs.
These low frequencies do not go through the Low Rotor simulator.
If you will be using the 11 pin connector to a different Leslie model
or other product, you could try the following (refer to page 68 & 69
in the manual):
Select one of the "Roll your own" Leslies (#1).
Set the fast and slow speeds for both the horn and the lower rotor to
0 (#'s 10, 11, 3 and 4).
Turn the Horn Level (# 5) to -12db. The crossover seems to be set at
800Hz according to the diagram and explanation of the Leslie effect
on page 40 so this will send a virtually non-Leslied low rotor signal
out the left/mono output. This would give you more than just the bass.
In addition, if you are using the 11 pin cable to a Leslie, the right
output of the XK-3 is a clean non-Leslied signal. You could run it
through a 125Hz crossover and send the low frequencies to a separate
amp.
There is a way to fool the XK-3 into thinking a Leslie is attached
(you have to provide a small voltage to a pin in the Leslie socket).
If you do this, you could use the digital Leslie via the L/M output
and the clean signal from the Right output through the crossover into
a separate amp. You would have the bass doubled though.
Good Luck.
