Have you tried using powered wedge monitors? I use a pair of
Wharfedale EVP-12PM monitors and I'm tickled to death with them.
(Previously I'd used a pair of KC-500s). The Wharfedales are
compact, sound great, and fit nicely under my keyboard rig. Our
soundman loves it because my stage volume is directed entirely at
ME, so he has near-complete control of what reaches the audience
thru the FOH or to the other band members thru their monitor mixes.

I run all my stuff (Yamaha S90, Motif ES7, and either a Korg BX-3 or
Roland VK-8M) thru a Yamaha MG10/2 mixer. I send the main outs to
the FOH, and the control room outs to my monitors, so I get the same
mix as is fed to the FOH.

Like I said, I'm very happy with the Wharfedales, but I'm sure there
are many other similar powered monitors out there.
