Subject:"NEW" DRAWBAR CONFIGURAE
I've had a Version 2 CX3 for 2.5 years now, and recently realized that I
hadn't ever heard all the demo songs. I gotta admit, I like 'em all.
In either the last or 2nd to last (a samba, I believe), the organist used a
drawbar registration that really "got", yea, moved me. It's funny that I
never pulled this particular bunch of drawbars, or at least not long enough to
feel it the way I did when I heard the demo... and it's really an "obvious"
grouping too!
00 88888 00
It just "works" for me - a lot! Plus - the other day while using it, I
realized that it reminds me VERY much of the sound Emerson presents in those
first couple of solo organ measures of "Karn Evil 9". I know he uses much more
than only 888000000, or 888400000 in his songs, but I never figured out that
many above these! In some of The Nice stuff, I hear what I've believed to be
888000330.
But the KE aspect is not what "makes" this drawbar setting for me... it's
that it is SO satisfying to have played Hammonds/clones for almost 20 years now
and to come upon a registration that 1. I was unaware of, or at least hadn't
ever really "pulled"; and 2. be genuinely "grabbed" by it. And I really was!
Oh, do I love this instrument!! (THE organ, be it a good clone like the
Korg, or of course the genuine tone-wheeled beast itself)
Best, Adam
