I played an earlier generation Pari at a gig once, must have been around
'78 or '79 I guess. From what I can recall (I have a low-quality
recording of the gig on a cassette somewhere), the sound was nice (it
was a tonewheel after all...), "woody" and "flutey" (is there such a
word...?) but not quite The Hammond Sound. The organ was running
through some solid state Elka rotary rather than a tube Leslie, so I
guess an important part of the equation was missing.
