Subject:Well deserved plug!

To all,
I know that a lot of you already know this but I feel compelled to
tell this story just the same. I have recently purchased a used
Platinum Series Speakeasy preamp from another member on this group
(thanks Mark!)and the member had sent the unit back to Speakeasy to
have a modification done to the unit. At the time of my purchase of
the unit it had not been sent back to the original yet, which caused
some concern on my part, but the owner explained that Speakeasy had
installed the modification but had found some "ripple" in the power
supply and was going to fix that as well as install an "XK-3
upgrade" to the preamp as well. When I expressed my concern to the
seller that he was not in possesion of an item he had sold to me he
assured me that Steve Hayes of Speakeasy knew of the transaction and
would take care of me. Still a bit nervous about the whole
situation, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a non-solicited
phone call from Steve Hayes on a Sunday afternoon to talk about the
preamp and assure me it would be in factory upgraded perfect shape
and would be shipped directly to me the next day. We proceeded to
talk for 30 minutes about what I was looking for in the product,
what his company's products and philosophies are and general
questions and views on where we both see the market heading. Now,
let me see if I've got this right....this guy owns the company,
calls me on a Sunday (not exactly a normal work day for a company
owner!), takes a ton of time to make sure I'm getting a product that
will work for my intended use, IS NOT MAKING ONE CENT ON THIS
SALE!!!... and then asks me my opinion of how he can make his
company even more attractive to customers? I was blown away by this
man's commitment to customer satisfaction. As a business owner
myself for many years in a service related field I know first hand
how inportant it is to go the extra mile for my customers and how
difficult that sometimes is. Jezz, I thought I did a good job at
this but Steve Hayes is the king of the hill for sure! Like I stated
earlier I'm sure most of you know this about Speakeasy but for the
ones out there who are trying to decide if that should buy a
Speakeasy preamp I cannot say enough good things about them and I'm
sure they will take care of you to levels that are mostly unheard of
in this day and age. Oh and the preamp itself is truly amazing and
awesome. The difference it makes to the sound of my XK-3, both
through my 145 Leslie and amp/PA set ups is like night and day. I
will never play without one again!
In summary the only way one little guy like me can make a difference
and help out Steve's company to contiune to prosper is to do two
things; one is to spread the word via groups like this and the other
is to continue to purchase products and sevices from him. I've
obviously spread the word with this long post and I've ordered a
road Leslie from Steve, sight unseen, which I paid for in full up
front to show my appreciation for his efforts to date, and based on
how great the preamp is I'm sure I will love the road Leslie.
Steve if you are reading this post thank you very much for your
great service and I hope that this well deserved plug will result in
more business for you. You centainly have earned it!
Bob
