I'm not following you. (Sorry) If we're talking about the Leavell, he's a HAMMOND player, and a player of Keyboard Specialties (I believe its Specialties, if not maybe Keyboard Products) Hammond organs. He is a Korg endorser, or was at the time, of the new SG Grand; if he needed a small clone for this mini stage, it would make sense that he uses Korg's since he has a relationship with them. (This happens ALL the time, trust me. Look at Derek Sherinian, who racks up endorsements like flies on a turd.)
But if we're talking taping over logos, then yes, they're taped over to protect their relationship with the product/company that's NOT taped up. Especially on big tours, where the keyboard guy is a hired gun, as opposed to the attraction (think "the guy on the Madonna tour" vs Keith Emerson), there is more at work here than what "he" wants to play; the guy on the Madonna tour will be more than happy to play a Mattel keyboard if he's getting paid to be on a stage with Madonna. Meanwhile, Madonna's people will cover up the brand name of anything that is in conflict with any of Madonna's endorsement deals.
This IS the way business is done, and usually precisely because of the point you make; if I have a deal with Roland promoting their FantomX7 (because I love their synth sounds and DBeam let's say), but I much prefer the pianos on the Motif 8, I am going to play the Motif 8 for pianos while covering up the logo and identifying marks (especially if Madonna loves the way the Motif does pianos more than the Fantom!), and display the FantomX7 while I use it for the things I like about it.

With all due respect, I disagree. Do you honestly think a pro would play a piece of gear he does not like because he/she gets more money from the manufacturer? I know I couldn't...
tonysounds wrote:No, that doesnt work either. Taping over logos is done to prevent bad feelings on the part of sponsors from competitors, and to hide UGLY LARGE BRAND NAMES.

You can't dismiss endorsements... maybe Korg just pays the pros
more than Nord to use their gear.
A "how pros feels about the two keyboards" list would be more
believable if you only counted pros that tape over the keyboard's
logo.
