Subject:Re: Amptone.com : a bad opinion about hybrid preamp approach
I was going to leave that post alone Rafael, but I'll tell you what I was going to say last nite: when looking on the web (or any other source for info), go to the homepage and find out who is responsible for the site, and what their agenda is. Generally, any reputable source, regardless whether we're talking amplifiers, cancer, government spending, or the health benefits of jello wrestling, that uses the term "bullshit" in their site probably isn't going to be the most reputable, nor the most "unbiased."
Wonder what kind of tube power amps he's selling, or what his agenda is.

Beg to differ. There is a discrete difference in tone when switching through
a Millenia recording studio preamp, solid state section/ preamp/eq vs. its
tube section. If done properly this idea works. Not that one is better than the
other. At times solid state sounds better than the tube. At least there's a
choice and the difference is audible. Being able to select solid state or tube
pre and solid state or tube eq definitely has its advantages.
