Subject:Re: Overdrive problem on CX3 AND: COMMENTS RE CX's PRESETS?
How about re-setting the entire organ to the factory defaults? I had some
weirdness with my Version 2 once, nothing heavy but enough to pull out, errr,
about 4 hairs (can't remember what it was). I re-set the Mighty Korg (I think
most of us CX3-ers would agree, the damn thing IS mighty... not to mention
far and away the BEST clone experience around! XK-who?) and all was fine. I
hope this works for you - best of luck.
I realized, after seeing reference to the O-D knob and pedal, that for quite
some time I've left the knob/ped at "11", and actually have been scrolling
up and down with the > buttons. Funny how one can get used to something
like this, even when another way of manipulating the function would be easier.
Now... how do people feel about the CX3 presets? Personal faves include a
Jimmy Smith one located at (can't think of the name) C-1. There's another JS
one, at B-1 ("BROTHER J" or something), with no "rotary", decent O-D, and 2nd
harmonic. I've loved his music since age 6, have played/listened to it for
years, but can't think of any tracks where he used 2nd harmonic. Not to say he
didn't; it's very possible I missed it. But I can't think of any 2nd harmonic
stuff he did. Can anyone refer?
Other faves include the gospel-esque ones ("PREACHIN'" is one) and some of
the full-organ, proggish, 88 88880 00-type stuff. Personally I like these
presets more than the ones on my old XK-2. BUT...
I still mostly enjoy just pulling n pushing the D-Bs at will... after 19
years around (and about) Hammonds and clones, a big kick for me, still, is
trying to shoot my hand over there at the right time... ditto with the "fast"
button for the "rotary"... as well as the V/C dial. Oh, do I love this
instrument! Thanks again, Laurens H...
Best wishes - Adam
