Have you adjusted the small recessed pots? According to the manual,
the Horn Level pot is normally set at about 10:00 when used alone,
but moved to about 3:00 when used with a lower unit. If two lower
units are used, set the Horn Level pot at about 4:00. These are
guidlines, season to taste.

Also, the Rotary Bass Level is usually set at 12:00 but adjusted down
to about 10:00 when attached to a lower unit.
