Subject:Small PA stands?

Probably not heavy duty enough but.. has anyone tried using the screw-
on microphone stand socket adapters to mount smaller PA/keyboard
speakers like the 10" G2's or similar on a mic tripod base stand or
even the older style round weighted base - or a better idea? Standard
PA tripods in aluminum have big tubes, very bulky, big footprint. What
if you want to put a couple of small powered speakers up 3-4 feet off
the floor at the sides and near your rig and still be able to move
around pretty easily in a smaller space without tipping them? I know
cheap x-stands will work, but maybe someone has another good idea or is
already doing this with their smaller speakers.. never hurts to ask : )
