I have been able to get mine to do whatever I have wanted, but it
sometimes was harder the second time because I was trying to do it
from memory instead of using the manual. A number of things like
setting up splits require a number of steps and it can be hard to
remember them all. Also, since some bank parameter changes can cause
previously working settings to stop (again with splits) it is
helpful/necessary/important/less frustrating to keep things
organized. Particularly when several sections of the manual have to
be referenced. Make notes in the book. Download and print a copy if
you don't want to write in the original. The manual can be downloaded

Check pages 56 & 57, they concern presets and what can be recalled or
turned off in a given bank. My previous post in this topic has more
detail on this. Most items in the book are marked as Global, Bank or
Preset parameters, some pages have each item marked and others have a
small note in bold type that indicate this. It may be more functional
to set up banks for particular uses rather than sound types.
