I have an older VHS from Alex Glaros that might just fit the bill as
far as some basic, but relevant, instruction. I bought it out of
Keyboard mag about 10 years ago. I also have a relatively new DVD and
book that I recently bought that really offered nothing new to me,
although it was a bit more advanced than the Alex Glaros VHS. I cannot
remember the artist at the moment, although the guy is talented as
heck, that's for sure. And, I guess he blows trumpet. Anyway, you can
have them both as I just don't want to go thru the hassle of eBaying
them. I probably paid $75 for the pair....I currently am studying Brian
Auger's DVD, and am getting Tony Monaco's, but both are more advanced.

I've been thinking about teaching myself, but don't know where I'd find
the time. I would recommend Joe Alley, the sax player in Soul Tight
Committee, as a very good piano teacher who'd understand your goals.
Also, I studied for a few years at MacPhail until my teacher moved to
LA. MacPhail is just so damn cool, music just reeks from the place.
That's where I learned theory, and life is just so much better if you
have an understanding of theory. Who woulda thunk it!
