As one start, check out Billy Holloman at the Artists Quarter in St. Paul,
every Tuesday night at 9:30-1:00 a.m. Holloman plays jazz, but there are
occasional blues tunes in the McDuff tradition, and nothing beats watching
the hands and feet of a great artist. Also check out list member Bill
Carson, who plays locally.

Another local, Bill Brown, has a video called "Playing the B-3" with a
section on rock blues. Bill Heid has a VHS called "Blues on the B-3".
David Cohen has a VHS called "Blues and Rock Techniques for Hammond Organ"
that is a good intro. About the best way to pick up blues riffs is to ear
train on the music you want to emulate. Check out www.365live.com for some
streaming broadcasts from the infinite list of blues tunes, and pick out
some you like. There are lots of guitar blues instruction books that can
show you the chords, turnarounds arpeggios. I like the Aebersold series.
In my experience, blues piano scores don't have much to offer, because the
organ technique is so different.
