Subject:Tweaking my CX-3 Leslie 2101 combination....
I am learning so much from this list. Many thanks to all of you.
I bought the CX-3 on the recommendation of a couple of friends that are old
time B3 players. I there is a lot that I like about it, but the longer I
played it the more I realized that I needed a stereo rig to take advantage
of it and started exploring a
variety of good options. During this process I realized that I really
wanted an actual Leslie and that the XK3 seems to fit my "sound-memory"
better. I tested both keyboards side by side through the Leslie 2101/2121
in the store.
I am getting to old to deal with a one piece traditional 122/147 Leslie and
I liked the 21 system enough to drag out the check book.
Running the CX-3 through the new Leslie made a huge improvement, but I'm
still not there. I've read some talk about the Speakeasy preamp but am
reluctant to shell out the bucks without more research.
All hands on experiences/opinions welcome.
Note: I am just starting to rehearse and gig for the pure love of playing.
I am doing this for my own enjoyment and the on-stage sound is critical to
me.
Which Speakeasy would I want if I decide to spend the money?
What if I pop for the Speakeasy and then decide to buy an XK3 a few months
later, i.e. 11 pin in and out vs 1/4" jack.
I want to add a digital piano/controller/additional manual in the future.
Stereo vs Mono.
