I should have mentioned that. The airline only covers you up to $600.00 on damage or theft of your "luggage". Our first trip to Japan, a $2500 Lakland bass disappeared between Detroit and Chicago (after flying all around the world for 7 weeks, it gets lost there...go figure), a $3k Martin acoustic disappeared at the same time, and a Takamine acoustic had a nice softball sized hole put into it. This all happened on that one flight.

The carrier: NORTHWEST AIRLINES. (free plug)
Their reimbursement: $600 per item.
Their turnaround: 15 months.
NORTHWEST AIRLINES gets you there....just not your stuff.

Definitely have insurance on your keyboard.
