Subject:OT? Patch switching on XV modules


I am not satisfied with the slow system operation-midi delays = slow
patch and performance switching on my Fantom X7 - plus already a non-
working key and rotary wheel static bursts after only three months. I
love the X series sounds and especially the SRX07 Ultimate Keys
pianos and organs. I read that Roland XV synth modules like the just-
discontinued XV-5080 and a few similar have pretty much the same
sounds with SRX expansion available. My concern is about patch-
switching delays playing live.

I found I could play the X7 as a "limited" multi-timbral synth module
on two channels with an A33 controller by using just the X7 User 01
template. This only has Ultimate Piano on all but the drum channel
and just uses a normal amount of two of most typical Reverbs and
Choruses, no MFX effects. Most MFX are really not needed for most
keyboard player's piano/organ/synth patch selections, as "effects"
are already in the wave forms of some of the best patches. By staying
in this one X7 Performance setup and not selecting any of its
channels, but just reading on-screen X7 patch LSB, MSB, Program
change numbers: I could set and save any two on the A33's A + B bank
presets = 16 x 2 x 2 or 64 total patches for Upper/Lower. Then I
could get instant patch change from the X7 with the controller
presets and play it "just like" a standard synth module.

What I'd like to find out from an experienced user per one of the
better XV synth modules with SRX expansion is: Can I do the same
thing with, for instance, an XV-5080 or similar 2U rack space module
(for the larger screen display); i.e., can you get into Performance
mode on-screen and do the above for typical multi-timbral live play?
The SRX07 Ultimate Keys card has some fantastic organ and combo organ
sounds, acoustic pianos and Rhodes/Wurly ep's - too many to list.
Being able to play these live with "instant" patch switching from a
controller would be Too Cool <- heh heh.. Thanks in advance for any
