Subject:Re: OT? speaking of "feel"

Check out the Roland RD170. It's about the same weight as the P90, sounds a lot better and has a great rhodes thing happening. It feels very good.

After owning nothing but 76-key Roland semi-weighted keyboards and
the better organ clone keyboards for years.. I am thinking seriously
of buying an 88-key hammer-weighted action digital piano or midi
controller. From working on my left hand boogie woogie and other
piano solo accompaniment patterns a lot more lately, I find my hands
want to cross over when playing 76-key split keyboards. So I figure
if I'm going for an 88, maybe it's time to try a hammer action. My
last experience with one was a Yamaha "house" piano which was really
a home spinet piano with a few added cheezy sounds, the earphone
output into the PA - piano sounded great. Unfortunately, my hands
ached for days, and I said "never again." However, the piano players
in the group know more about the subject of this particular "feel"
than me. I'd really like to get steered to a keyboard that's not a
hand-wrecker, a somewhat lighter action, but still piano-weighted.

I've been looking online at the Yamaha P60 for its bargain price, low
weight, plus good reviews at Harmony Central, etc - and what looks
like open space for a 2nd keyboard on top. The P90 doesn't seem to
get better reviews, nor does the P120, although they are top-rated
with these two having more features. Note* I won't buy from the Fatar-
Studiologic line from personal experience and continuing poor reviews
of their controllers - if you have one that's working fine for you,
that's great. Roland's X8 weighs too much for me as do several other
keyboards. I try to keep my gear at an under-40-lbs-per-item cutoff
due to "Hammond Back".. with an exception for my Pro-145's which I've
found a workaround way to move, but usually have plenty of help.

In any case, can some of the "pianorganists" in this bunch give me
some advice to make one step up from the best semi-weighted keys? All
info will be greatly appreciated. TIA ~ Walter j - Happy New Year!
