Subject:Re: Chop for an M3
I second Ben's comments. In 1974, I bought an M-3 and chopped it. My
father, who was an engineer, did the woodworking and designed a
wonderful wooden stand that disassembled flat, but when assembled,
made the M-3 look a bit like a C-3. I did the electrical work--cutting
wires and putting in plugs. My electrical work wasn['t very good, as I
wound up with about a half dozen plugs to connect.
Anyway, while I loved having a portable Hammond, I really missed
fold-back (at the time, I was unable to find anyone to add fold-back
to my M-3), I missed the added range in the manuals, and I especially
missed the added bass when I was playing without a bass player (the
M-3 has only 12 pedals, not even the 13--top C--that newer spinets have).
