Subject:Re: Dying keys on new XK3?
It is probably too late for you, but why not go to a local Hammond
store to buy an XK-3. Most seem to be family owned or small
businesses so that you are dealing with the guy who owns the
company. He/She has manuals, access to parts (probably overnight) a
demo unit in stock, can call Hammond's tech support and the person
who sold it to you may very well be the guy who fixes it. Their name
is on the door so they want to make/keep you happy. They don't have
to go up the food chain to get an OK to order/ship a part overnight.
No matter what a sales guy tells you, if a chain already has a few
of something in their inventory even if it is a hundred miles away,
they are going to give you that one before they buy another one
(somebody gets a bonus based on inventory turns/low inventory cost).
They probably have on site service for their church and other large
customers and would be willing to pick up / deliver the unit after
it is serviced since they are in the area anyway. If their price is
higher than the chain's, it would be more than justified in after
sale support and service. And while you are there, they might let
you play some of their rebuilt B3's and A100's.
