Subject:Dying keys on new XK3? SOLVED!!

I owe you another huge thanks.

I was getting ready to sit down with the manual tonight and look at the "zones" setup and see if I could duplicate the occurrence. Hadn't gotten there yet, but you've saved me that effort (not to mention a 5 or 6 hour round trip to L.A.)

The Un-sounded note event(s) took place very late at night after sitting at the digital piano for a couple of hours. I wanted to try a tweak on the XK3 before I drug off to bed. I had been using the string bass sound on the Yamaha P80 split with the Grand Piano sound and was kind of digging on that, so I was trying to figure out how to consistently just hear the pedal bass sound on the Xk's keyboard split. I kept getting the A# drawbars mixed in with it (using A# & B presets both for upper manual) and couldn't clear them. Yeah, figured that out also, but that's another story. In the process I must have stumbled across the "mono" setting.

Going back in and entering the "Mono" setting made it very easy to duplicate the problem by simply playing sloppy on purpose.

It was tough to consider taking the keyboard back to LA because the problem had not re-occurred since I posted this list, but I didn't want to wait around and face a warranty issue when I still had time to return the keyboard for a new one. Giving up on the XK3 completely was not really an option that I considered.

What I've figure out is that it had not re-occurred since my posting because:

1) I haven't been playing at a nearly collapsed physical state
2) I did a complete re-set to factory defaults, which returned the "poly" setting to the pedal sounds.

I am so happy.
