Subject:Re: Brian Auger DVD
I have it and it's very inspirational.
The overall approach is casual; they shot it in his living room (I'm
guessing in Arizona?). But there is an overhead cam and a handheld, and the
editing is quite appropriate. When Brian explains something, they make sure
you see and hear what you need to see and hear.
He covers his approach to II-V, which is the basis for most of what he does.
He also likes chromatic things, and he explains that. There is some footage
shot in a small bar somewhere of his band, with his son on drums and his
daughter singing, and he really tears it up. Then, back in his living room,
they look at some of the hot licks he played, and he explains what he's
doing.
If you like his playing, this is the DVD for you. I can't explain why, but
it's the first instructional DVD that I've purchased that I'm really getting
some mileage out of. It's been in my computer by the piano for a couple of
months now.
