Subject:Druumer-in-a-box recommendations?

Hello group:

I was just thinking the other day that it might be nice to have a
drummer-in-a-box (drum sequencer) to play along with. I want to get
back into writing music so I might be able to cobble together some
tunes with me on guitar, bass and BX-3.

Any recommendations on a reasonable drum sequencer, either software for
the computer or as a stand-alone unit? I'm just futzing around with
this at this point in time so I don't want to spend a lot of loot on a
full blown pro unit. Free downloadable software would be even better
but I would appreciate any and all comments as I know less than zero
about drum sequencers.
