Subject:MIDI - Fying Hammond Manuals??

This is an interesting topic for a cold winter's night. I know nothing about
how this might be done, but it seems like a good idea for a number of
reasons.

Number one - unfortunately Hammond kinda dropped the ball when it came to
the feel of the "New B-3 " manuals. Many people have the impression that they
felt strange, myself included.

Both the Roland VK8m and the Voce V5 series have the capability of driving 2
manuals and pedals. It would be interesting to see this put to good use. I
happen to like what I have heard sound wise out of both of these units, though
I must admit my encounters with the V5+ have been more limited.

A Denver based organist named Pat Bianchi reportedly gutted a Hammond CV and
used the B4 as his sound source. But I have never heard of anyone doing this
with a module.

I am blessed ( or cursed ) to own TOO MANY Hammond consoles. I have a C-2 in
storage that I have no clue what I am going to do with, and earlier this year
I gave away a C-V in pristine condition with absolutely gorgeous manuals
simply because I had nowhere to store it.

Incidently. I would be very curious to hear any clone run through a Hammond
C-2 or B-2 preamp. That preamp is a marvel of simplicity . A few of us who
have owned the 2 series Hammonds know that there is real beauty in that preamp
and it really is different than the A0 -28 found in B-3's etc. - In a good
way. Using something like that could be a real key element in getting a good
sound out of a clone. Everything in the old 2 series Hammonds was built like
a tank.

I would like to know more about the best way to midi -fy some real Hammond
manuals. Using that and the old preamp with a clone could be interesting.
