After getting my new WS-540 open and trying it on a couple of boards,
I can't help but think.. this is exactly the right size for a CX3,
and without ever setting a BX3 up, seems like the same footprint for
both. It has a weight capacity of 300 lbs! The only difference
between it and the WS-550 is the center piece is shorter, so it sets
up like this:

Same size square tubing, but I'd assume not the same 2nd tier as the
WS-550. I think I'd put a piano on top of the BX3 as the easiest, but
I like them on the bottom just as well. Maybe coming from the side in
an 'L' configuration or at an angle on a different type stand would
work? One of the inexpensive "table" or "platform" stands would hold
a heavy piano easily, and you might find a way to sneak it in close
with more height on the BX3 stand and less on the platform stand.
Good Luck! Wj
