Subject:Mod to a tonewheel Hammond

Hi everyone,

i searched the archives of hammond-zone and sent a post there but
didn't have any answer, so i'll try here, as i know many of you are
knowledgeable in electronics. forgive me for the non-clonewheel topic. (!)

i have an opportunity of buying a Hammond X77 with its Leslie (X77)
for fairly cheap. it is a tonewheel model, and is all solid-state. the
leslie is also solid-state. i tried it yesterday and thought it
sounded good, but i am thinking that through a tube preamp, it would
pretty much sound like a B3. my idea would be to bypass the signal
before it goes into the internal preamp, make a 1/4 output, and send
it to my Speakeasy tube preamp. (and then to my leslie 145). i could
use the X77 leslie for the parts or whatever, as it would become
unusable with the organ.

i know this organ isn't very portable (i wish i could find an M3 and
chop it) but it would be a nice home setup. anyway, what do you all
think about this project, would it be feasible?

thanks

martin
