Subject:Re: Clone-->Speakeasy examples
Hi Rob,
i don't think there's any A/B audio comparison of speakeasy/no
speakeasy for hammond clones available on the web. if i ever have some
spare time, i would like to record some samples with and without my
clone preamp and add them on my page.
this comes back often, but the tube preamp makes your sound more
"alive". now, it depends on how much you're willing to spend to have a
sound that's "more alive".
if i compare what i paid for my leslie 145 vs. my clone preamp and
what they do to my sound, i'd say the leslie improves my sound in an
incredible way and gives me excellent value for the money, while the
clone preamp takes the sound a bit closer to "the sound" and cost me
just a little less than my leslie. the difference between a leslie and
a p.a. is dramatic, but the difference between speakeasy and no
speakeasy is much smaller. well that's my opinion.
