Unlike guitarists, we don't need to wind up our gear to get them to sound
good, and once guitarists figure out they can get even better tone from an
18watt amp wound all the way up, and that they will be put in the monitors/PA
because the soundguy can't hear them, the world will be a better place.
Hi, I'm a guitarist/hammond player/engineer that has been working on the
sound volume problem for a while. I used to use a 100 watt Fender Showman to
drive my Leslie to be able to keep up. I recently built several 18 watt amps and
matching cabinets for myself and our other guitar player. They sound so good
it is hard to describe. They sound huge but are not that loud. I have since
went back to the 122 amp in my road leslie and coverted 22H amp in the studio
Leslie. Everything sounds so much better now. We've had many comments from
people in the audience about how great the mix is. We can hear each other
better on stage too, and it doesn't stress monitor systems so much.
