Can't comment on the result since I don't have an XK3. But just wanted
to point out that it's generally a bad idea to combine two audio
signals with a Y-cable. Y-cables are meant for taking a single source
and sending it to two places, not the other way around. When a Y-cable
is used as a mixer, you are sending the output of each channel to the
other. At worst, you risk potential damage to the keyboard's output
stage. At best, you get distortion of the output, and perhaps that is
what's making the C/V sound better. A simple passive mixer is very
easy to make and only requires a couple of resistors.

mixer in my wires bag for emergencies.
