Subject:Shameless Plugs and the XK3 and 2101s
Hey y'all....just been messing with my rig choices today trying to figure out what to take to tonite's show (Frankies Blue Room in Naperville, 10p www.frankiesblueroom.com/) and was comparing my Electro to my XK3 straight into amps, then through my 2101s, then through the Speakeasy preamp into my amps, then through the Speakeasy into my 2101s.
First, I love my Electro bigtime. But I am finding that with TWO amplifiers, in other words, truly stereo, there is a lot to like about the XK3's leslie simulator. Highly tweakable, you can get lost in the sim for a week or two (like I can afford that kind of time...like any of us can!) and really get into it to customize it. I always sold the XK3s sim short, but I'm finding it has a wider dispersal pattern (even though it's probably just psychoacoustics) through the same amps as the Electro.
But what has really blown me away is how killer the 2101s sound with my XK3 driving the Speakeasy into the 2101s. I've used them a couple times on gigs, just straight in, but now that I have an 11pin driver on my Speakeasy, its freakin SCARY how good they sound. The Speakeasy beefs the bass up a hair (not that it needs it, the XK3 is very full of ass, especially with me playing it!), but that sweet spot on the treble between 3:00 and 6:00 just feels like the windows being open on the first nice day in April. KILLER!
Tonight's load-in is the type we all dread: one LONG flight of stairs up, then a left turn and another short set of stairs....then two steps forward, 2 steps down, a few more feet, another step down...a few more feet then you're at the stage. So you can see why I was messing with my rig. I have taken my leslie up here every time we've played, but I need to make a hasty getaway tonite because I have a 6am departure for my son's baseball tournament, and I wanted to bring as little as possible.
So even though the leslie's not coming out, the rig: Motif 8, XK3, Speakeasy, Line mixer, a pair of 2101s and a pair of Yorkville 300Ks. If you happen to make it out tonite, say hello.
ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!!!!!

Hey, the poster might just be trying to get some information. Nothing
wrong with that. If we don't want to rehash the same discussion over
and over again, we can always direct the poster to the archives.
