Tony,

Scott is right, those XK3 clips sound incredible. If you would be so
kind, I have a few questions about the setup and the recording:

1) Was this done on a single or dual manual XK3?
These recordings were for Hammond Suzuki to demonstrate the xk system,
I used the xk3 on top of an xk2 (just for midi triggering, and I lined up
the keyboards so that the 2 manuals were over & under like a dual organ manual
set up. Then I used 2 hardware clamps to tie them together! Crazy as it
sounds, the center of gravity allowed me then to put the 2 manual set up on one
keyboard stand! (Midi out of the xk2 went into the lower manual midi input of
the xk3)

2) Did you use pedals or play the bass lines only with your left hand?
Both, I then used the Hammond xpk-100 midi pedals and sent it's midi out to
the xk3 pedal midi input. Now I have a real organ set up.

3) Did you use an external Leslie or the internal simulator? & 4) How was it
recorded? Did you go direct out from the XK3 (no external Leslie) or did
you use a miked external Leslie?
For the demo I used a 122 xb and mic'd it in my studio like I record my CDs,
when you connect the 11 pin cable, the 1/4" outputs become DIs (direct outs)
So I used the 122xb and a DI for that "Rudy Van Gelder Sound)

5) How was the reverb added? I used the internal reverb plus sweetened it a
little on the post mix to spread it out. Notice Blue Moon has the reverb
coming through the spinning leslie to get the old Jimmy smith sound!!!!!!

I hope this helps! I do have some experiments results to share as well,

If you disconnect pin # 11, the xk3 sends the leslie simulater through the
stereo 1/4 outs. It sound awesom as well to use the 2101 for the horn
(disconect the 4 internal speakers so just the horn works) Ant then send the 2 1/4"
outs from the xk3 to a stereo Pa for the bottom rotor. The internal simulator
allows you to turn the horn volume down or off!!!! I tell you this works great
if your needing to plug the organ through a PA but you still want to feel
the horn! I like the Leslie simulator on the XK3 better than the 2101 because
it sends it in stereo and moves the rotor in a panning motion moving the
sound around. You can then take the bass out of the 2101 and send it separetly as
well!!!!!!!!!!!Good Luck!!!

Tony
