Subject:OVERPAYMENT SCAM

In the UK on various sites where readers can sell gear there is a
regular scam going on where potential buyers offer to pay more for
the goods than you are advertising them for. They give all sorts of
excuses as to why they need to do this, including their secretary
having made the cheque ( check ) and sent too much and they are in a
rush to buy your equipment, or a client/creditor owes them a cheque
and will only make out one cheque, so will you pay the extra money
over to their shippers and the shippers will then make arrangements
to collect your sale item along with other items the buyer is
supposedly buying from other sources.

You will receive the cheque, pay it into your account and it will
clear so you are free to send them the overpayment amount.
Turns out that weeks later the cheque will bounce and your bank will
debit the amount to your account.

I received one of these emails asking to buy an item but I didn't
take them on as it just seemed to wierd to be true. Others have taken
the bait and lost amounts in the region of $6000.
