Subject:Fantom owners - repair endpiece ?
While we were setting my Fantom down on a corner before turning it to
lift onto the stand, it slipped free the last 6 inches or so and hit
moderately hard on the left upper front corner. The board is fine,
but the upper left front corner of the endpiece got a crack. The hard
plastic of the endpiece pulled apart maybe 1/8" with the ends
sticking up a little. The crack extends about 1/2" down almost to the
little chrome hex nut on that corner. I looked very close at this
with a big magnifier and a flashlight, and it seems the end piece may
be entirely cosmetic. If I pull out on the endpiece a little with the
light shining through, the hex nuts don't go all the way through to
the metal end of the keyboard. Does anyone with Fantom experience
know if this is simply a cosmetic endpiece, how it might be fastened,
like maybe with some kind of pop-in tabs, just snapped into place?
Also does anyone know the mm hex wrench size of the little hex nuts
to give that a try? I'd like to see if I can take the endpiece off
and either glue it back together (what kind of glue?) before
replacing it, or get another endpiece from Roland - their
parts/repair is about 100 miles from me by mail.
Info would be greatly appreciated from Fantom owners. If you don't
mind I'll cross-post this to the other keyboard groups. TIA ~ Walter
