I have had my new XK-3 running into a Motion Sound Pro 145
next to my old BV/122 setup to make side by side comparisons.
The MS Pro145 isn't nearly as good as the 122 of course, but it
gives a good account of itself.. I've tried the XK-3 with and without
a Speakeasy clone preamp too - not much difference either way, so
I'm leaving it out for now. The XK-3 does pretty well all round IMO.
I don't perceive any thinness, but as you say, after a week of playing
with it and tweaking things, it will probably come to life. Keep us
informed - we're all interested in diverse opinions here.
