1. Go into Edit mode and click the Group 1 button (left-most button
under the display).

2. Page through the parameters with the arrow key and see if there is
a DB LevelCurve parameter. From the book it looks like its between
Wheel Type and Over Tone Level (I don't have the keyboard with me now)

3. If its there and there are Bright and Mellow choices then you have
Version 2. The Mellow choice was added at V2. I have an idea that the
parameter didn't exist at V1.
