Subject:XK-3 -- key response and key click volume
Hi all,
I finally got my XK-3 and I have a couple of questions:
(1) The touch response of the keyboard feels extremely "sensitive" --
the keys sound even if I press them down just a tiny little bit. I've
played a real B-3 a while ago and I don't remember the keys being so
"responsive". I know that organ keys always feel much lighter than
piano keys, but what confuses me is that any slight touch of a key on
the XK-3 immediately produces a sound. Question: Is that what a true
B-3 sim should feel like (and I just have to get used to it)? And/or
is there a way to adjust the response?
(2) The default key click volume (attack/release set to 12 and 5)
seems really loud to me. Neither from my experience of playing that
real B-3 (once) nor from B-3 recordings the key click has sounded so
prominent. In your opinion, do you think the click volume default
setting on the XK-3 makes it sound authentic? Or do you also feel it
is too loud? I should add that I play my XK-3 through a keyboard amp
(but a real Leslie is on my wish list), so maybe with a Leslie, this
issue disappears?
Thanks so much for your help, and my apologies if these questions have
been asked before (I couldn't find them in the archive, though).
Cheers,
Max
