Well, Joe Mooney did some of the nicest sounding Jazz stuff on an HR 40 with the oil tubes overfilled to dampen the reverb. Used largely slightly reedy sounding registrations possibly a V 1 vibrato sometimes and quite a bit of hand tremolo with chords and some "falls".
And there's Brian Auger non Leslie.

And you shoulda heard Joey D with an assortment of speakers that included an FR 40 hammond and an early (model 30?) leslie!

And there's days when I wish I had the HR 40 with its nearly backward (in Hi Fi thinking) two 12's for treble and 9 , 10's for bass I think it was! But I do like the interplay of having a pair of Lelsies and just being a bit facetious or devils advocaty here!
