Thanks for the advice so far. Ok I have learned that Leslies have
built in power amps (strange that I've seen some Leslies with guitar
power amps on the top).

So seems like some preamp is necessary. Ok, I have a studio type
tube preamp (behringer mic100) knocking around, can I use that? Is
the job of the preamp just to boost the output of the clone, or does
it serve some other purpose such as providing those mysterious 11 pin
connectors so often mentioned here.

Finally, the 2101 system looks great but that is the brand new
speaker right? I was thinking more along the lines of picking up one
of the numerous used & beaten up leslies that appear regularly on the
used market.
