Subject:Re: New XK-3 owner, question on Leslie Sim
When the XK-3 is played through a 3 Channel Leslie Speaker (such as
a Leslie 21 System, or an 812/814) attached via the Leslie connector
and cable the brake button controls which speakers the sound goes
through when the Leslie rotation is turned off. If the Brake button
is lit, and the On button is not, the sound is sent through the same
speakers that it goes through when the rotors are turning. If the
Brake button is not lit, and the On button is not lit, the sound
goes through the 3rd channel speakers that are also/normally used
for the other sounds that other Hammond organ models with built in
sound modules produce. The digital Leslie seems to reproduce the
change in tone as well. Try selecting a different model Leslie and
try it (the XK-3 seems to default to the 122 or 147). Hold down the
Leslie On button for a few seconds and it will bring up those
parameters on the control panel. The manual that can be downloaded
from here: http://www.suzuki-music.co.jp/en/pdf/Xk3v101e.pdf is
slightly different from the one that comes with the organ, and has a
chart on page 40 that shows what the various button combinations do.
I hope this helps.
